This year's Welcome Home 2018 meeting will be held in Brežice, on Saturday, June 16th.
We invite all compatriots, members of Slovenian associations and their friends who want to visit Slovenia, perform at an event or just hang out with us and enjoy the culinary delicacies and wine typical of this area, to join us and honor the Cankar Year, at the same time the year of cultural heritage protection and our eighth traditional meeting.
Local tourist associations will take all associations from abroad and abroad that apply to their homes and social spaces. There, locals will demonstrate the preservation of local crafts, teach guests how to make homemade bread, perhaps together they will design a tourist souvenir to take home, eat local food, and together they will enjoy performances by the hosts and members of Slovenian associations from abroad and abroad. The locals want to create genuine contact with Slovenian guests, they want to have a good time and at the same time show all those local specialties that will make compatriots from abroad even more willing to come home, to Slovenia.
The full-day program will be filled with activities for different tastes and generations. In the evening, we will say goodbye to a classical music concert in the Knight's Hall at the Brežice Museum and a concert for younger generations at the Brežice Youth Center.
In the coming months we will enrich the program and publish it on our website. www.slovenci.si and send new information by email. We invite all societies that will please us with their presence to do this announce ASAP – with a short email message, write the approximate number of participants and any need for accommodation from Saturday to Sunday. This way, we will more easily create a list of local tourist associations that will cooperate with their programs.
