Gorizia artists celebrate Slovenian Statehood Day in Luxembourg
The Slovenian Society in Luxembourg will mark this year's National Day with a ceremony thematically dedicated to the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 and will be organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Brussels and the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad and Worldwide.
Alongside the official program, Gorizia artists will present themselves with an exhibition and a piano recital at the Foyer européen, the European House in Luxembourg, and the event will be followed by a social gathering.
The photography exhibition titled Balance was designed by Natasha Kovsca, curator of the Gong Gallery in Nova Gorica, and the piano recital will be performed by Miran Devetak, a pianist from Gorizia and professor at the Sarcelles Conservatory near Paris.
Natasha Kovsca, who runs the Gong Gallery in Nova Gorica, is a renowned art historian, curator and lecturer. She is dedicated to the study of contemporary art and visual culture; she is also the author of the Photo Glossary for Young People. The group exhibition entitled Balance presents the works of four artists from the border area between Slovenia and Italy – Annibel Cunoldi Attems, Danilo Jejčič, Andrej Perko and Carlo Vidoni – who express themselves through both photography and installations. The exhibition raises the question of how art can contribute to understanding and overcoming the challenges of modern society, such as the depletion of natural resources, technological overload and global crises.
Miran Devetak, a pianist from Gorizia and professor at the Sarcelles Conservatory near Paris, began his musical career at the G. Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, and then improved his skills in Paris, Barcelona and Belgium under the mentorship of renowned professors such as Igor Lazko, Denis Pascal, Luiz de Moura Castro and Diane Andersen. His concert program will include Three Preludes by Lucijan Marija Škerjanc, Six Little Things by Mario Kogoj, Petrarch's Sonnet No. 47 by Franz Liszt, Liszt's adaptation of Schubert's Sei mir gegrüsst, and Igor Stravinsky's Lullaby and Finale from The Firebird, in a piano arrangement by Guido Agosti.
The number of places is limited due to the capacity of the hall, so registration is mandatory!
