Pulcinella is a character over five hundred years old, built on situational comedy and minimalism. In Mati's play, he is created from a simple white handkerchief, then comes to life, gets his own voice and finds partners to play with: a hand, an accordion, a whistle, castanets and finally Mati himself. With a black mask, white clothes and a characteristic voice, he seems like a kind of anarchist who fears no one, and in an argument with him, everyone gets the short end of the stick.
The play Pulcinella has already performed at most international puppet festivals, clubs and alternative venues from Europe to Asia, South and North America, Japan and Russia, and has received numerous awards and recognitions at home and abroad. Since its premiere in 2002, it has had more than 400 performances. It is suitable for children from 4 years old, as well as family audiences and adults.
Matija Solce is a musician, director, actor, the first Slovenian doctor of puppetry, and the organizer of the festivals Plavajoči grad, Etno Histeria, and Kavč festival.
