Dear parents!
I am writing to you with information regarding the implementation of supplementary Slovenian language classes in Luxembourg.
This school year, classes will be held on Saturday mornings in Lycée Athénée de Luxembourg.
I don't have information about the exact class/location yet. I will get it by the end of this week and forward it to the parents who have/will submit the application forms.
We start this Saturday, October 4, 2025. We will meet every Saturday except before and after the holidays. I will add the exact list at the bottom. If I have checked the information online correctly, the holidays of the European School and the Luxembourg schools overlap this school year. I will keep you informed of any changes. I would be grateful if you could keep me informed of any absences of children.
Classes will still be held in two groups:
Group 1: from 9:30 to 10:30 – preschool children born in 2020 and younger – lessons will be conducted through guided games and activities (5 application forms)
Group 2: from 10:45 to 12:45 – school children (6 application forms) – the class will be held in two parts, with a break for children to socialize freely. The first part will be dedicated to a little more "serious school work" in smaller groups depending on the level of the children, and the second part to various projects and creativity.
I don't know the child yet, so changes are possible depending on the child's level of Slovenian (literacy) and the dynamics of the group.
Students need a pen (pen, crayons or felt-tip pens, scissors, glue), a notebook (A4) and a folder for each lesson.If the children have already attended classes the previous school year and still have notebooks, workbooks or textbooks at home, they should bring them to the first meeting. This way I will obtain additional information about their level and progress in Slovenian.
Meeting schedule for the 2025/26 school year:
- October: 4th, 11th, 18th (25th class is cancelled due to my absence)
- November: 15th, 22nd, (29th class cancelled – Christmas Fair with Slovenian stand at the European School – You are invited!)
- December: 6th, 13th
- January: 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
- February: 7th, 28th
- March: 7th, 14th, 21st
- April: 18th, 25th
- May: 16th, 23rd
- June: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
Changes are possible due to unforeseen events.

ARRIVING TO LESSONS
Lycée Athénée de Luxembourg has specific rules that do not allow parents to enter school premises.
Students gather in front of the entrance, where they are picked up and taken to class by the teacher. At the end, they are brought back to their parents.
