Presidential elections of the Republic of Slovenia (12.11.2017)

According to partial results from Sunday's elections, a second round of elections will be necessary to elect the President of the Republic of Slovenia, which is scheduled to take place on November 12, 2017. 

Housemates, i.e. citizens who are temporarily abroad and would like to vote by mail from abroad or at a polling station with an open polling station in the second round must notify the National Electoral Commission of their intention to vote no later than 27 October 2017 at midnight.

The deadline for submitting the notification is preclusive and the arrival deadline applies. Notifications received too late will not be taken into account by the National Electoral Commission.

Expatriates, Citizens who do not have permanent residence in the Republic of Slovenia may vote:

1. at the DKP, if a polling station has been established at the DKP and they are entered in a special electoral register,

2. by mail from abroad.

The National Electoral Commission will ex officio send election materials to a voter who does not have a permanent residence in the Republic of Slovenia (hereinafter referred to as an expatriate) to the registered address abroad. Ex officio, expatriates are also entered in a special electoral register and can also vote at a diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Slovenia (DKP), if a polling station is established at the DKP.

Emigrant can also vote at a special polling station "OMNIA"

An expatriate who will be voting again on November 12, 2017, in the Republic of Slovenia, may decide to vote at a special polling station at the headquarters of the district electoral commission (administrative unit), the so-called "OMNIA" polling station. If an expatriate wishes to vote at this polling station, he or she must notify the district electoral commission in whose area he or she exercises the right to vote or the State Electoral Commission.

The emigrant can send the notification:

A. via the eGovernment portal at the link below:

B. on form Fig. 03: "Voting outside the district of permanent residence (emigrants)  

The expatriate can send the form to the address of the district election commission:

·        by mail to the address of the district election commission,

·        by fax,

·        by email (scanned for signature) to the email address of the district election commission

The State Election Commission or the District Election Commission must receive the voter's notification no later than 12:00 p.m. on November 8, 2017. The deadline for submitting the notification is preclusive and the arrival deadline applies. Notifications received late will not be taken into account by the electoral commission.
