CinÉast for Slovenians is successful again

Danijel Hočevar guest of the Slovenian evening at CinÉast 2015

On Sunday, October 18, 2015, we hosted in our center Danijela Hočevar, one of the most important Slovenian producers in recent years. A good number of visitors attended the Slovenian evening at the Utopia cinema, which was jointly prepared by the Slovenian section of CinÉast and the Slovenian Society in Luxembourg, and supported by the Slovenian Embassy in Brussels. A pleasant gathering with Slovenian wines and speeches was followed by a screening of a full-length documentary film Home the director The Singer method. The film, which is about the residents of the former Ljubljana singles' home for construction workers, premiered at this year's Slovenian Film Festival in Portorož, where it won two vesna awards, for best documentary film and the audience's choice. It is interesting, however, that the Luxembourg screening "overtook" the official Slovenian premiere in the capital. The singer's subtlety, which is also characteristic of his feature films, addressed the audience, which was also expressed in the dialogue between the producer and the audience after the screening itself and during the subsequent informal gathering.

As a guest of CinÉast, Danijel Hočevar also participated in the CinÉast Pro co-production workshop, which the festival prepares in cooperation with the Luxembourg Film Fund (Film Fund Luxembourg) and the ULPA (Luxembourg Union of Audiovisual producers).

Other Slovenian films are also successful

Other Slovenian films were also presented at the festival. It entered the feature film competition program A family film the director Olma Omerz  (perhaps less familiar to Slovenian audiences, as it works in Prague). Between feature films, we watched a comedy Bangs Deluxe, the director Jan Cvitkovič, and among animations for children, two short films Ki-ki-do (Swamp Prince, One Hundred Unfortunate Sponges) director and animator Greg Mastnak. Among the co-productions, Slovenia participated in films You carry me, female directors Ivone Juke and Reaper, the director Zvonimir Jurić.

The eighth CinÉast Central and Eastern European film festival, in which Slovenia participated for the fourth time this year, took place between October 8 and 25, 2015.
