Dear Slovenians and other friends of Slovenia!
An ethnic group is coming to Luxembourg to perform Ethnotrip from PrekmurjeWe are also preparing a music workshop for young people with them.
In the open world of Prekmurje, the ring of seas, several cultures, differences, special features and at the same time homeliness come together. The eve of the Slovenian holiday is the perfect time to open our hearts to Pannonia, which in its vastness has invited and brought together happy and good people, both domestic and foreign, for centuries. This infinite grace and sharpness of openness is also carried in the music of the five-member band Ethnotrip (Tjaša Šimonka (vocals), Miha Kavaš (violin), Primož Kramberger (piano), Aleksander Varga (bass guitar) and Tomi Došen (percussion). The young musicians are enthusiastic about folk tradition and draw songs for their repertoire from the rich treasury of music of Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, England and Russia. The fact that the band is not typically folk, lets us know that the arrangements of these songs also stand out. The band has had a good number of performances both at home and abroad in recent years.
So far, they have released two CDs containing arrangements of folk songs. With musical guests and producer Dejan Berden, they have recorded their third studio album, which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2018. The album will feature completely new, original music, created by the musicians with the help of lyrics by Slovenian authors Štefan Kardoš, Feri Lainšček, Marko Kočar, Jasna Jurkovič and Mojca Šipek.
Since most of the musicians are in the group of teachers, we prepare with them singing and music making workshopsWe invite all young singers to sing with Tjaša, learn some Pannonian songs, maybe even dance a bit... We also invite all those who play strings and clarinet to join Miha, who will guide you through Pannonian melodies and rhythms. He will adjust the difficulty to suit individuals!
The workshops will take place during the day in Sunday June 24th in Sang a Klang, in the evening at 19.30 The concert will be followed by Ethnotrip. The opening act will be young workshop creators 🙂
You can quench your thirst with gibanica with cocta, Laško beer and local wine, so that we can toast our homeland together!
